Event Description:

Title: A class of hypersingular operators

Abstract: If you try to generalize Calderón-Zygmund's method of rotation to kernels with non standard homogeneity, you are led to study the Hilbert transform along curves. Many people have worked in this problem, Fabes, Riviere, Nagel, Wainger, Stein, among many others. Chandanara studied this operator when the singularity is a power. We will discuss this convolution operator when the singularity is worse than a power. This is joint work with Ricardo Sáenz.

About the Speaker: Magali Folch-Gabayet received her BS from Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM) and her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the direction of Stephen Wainger (Elias Stein's first student). She has been a professor at the Instituto de Matemáticas at UNAM since 1998. Her research interests are in harmonic analysis and PDEs, in particular the study of singular and oscillatory integrals. This is not Dr. Folch-Gabayet first visit to NM as she  used to be a regular attendant to the New Mexico Analysis Seminar, an annual  conference alternating between Las Cruces and Albuquerque held between 1998-2009 and 2014-2016.
