Title: Existence and uniqueness issues for the Q-curvature equation on closed Riemannian manifolds

Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss the problem of prescribing the Q-curvature, which is a higher-order generalization of the scalar curvature, on a closed Riemannian manifold. This problem amounts to solving a nonlinear elliptic PDE of order 2k, where k is a positive integer. This equation rapidly becomes very intricate as k increases, and new issues emerge already for small values of k. I will review some recent existence and uniqueness results for this problem. This is partly based on a joint work with Saikat Mazumdar (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay).
